Where all our tweeples at?! Since a good number of you (honestly, way more than we thought) were a little upset about our mass unfollowing, we wanted to drop you a message to let you know what’s up.
First, it is ABSOLUTELY nothing personal. It’s not about what you were tweeting, anything you’ve said, etc. Truth of the matter is, our twitter account turned into a bit of a spam machine when you’re following 4,000+ people. There are about 50 new tweets every minute and we can’t possibly keep track of everyone.
Second, we may have been bad for a while with our social media. In our earlier days, we would find shortcuts, to what we thought was your heart. Automated programs that would follow you back, just because you followed us. Cheating, we know! Unfortunately, with this came a lot, and I mean A LOT of spam bots. So even of the tweets we can see on screen, a bunch of them tend to be automated poop that suckers like us fell for by auto-following.
Third, we really do want a better connection with you and fewer followers will make us more apt to using our twitter account as well. Seriously, everyday we get about 5 – 10 direct messages from someone’s account who has been hacked and it’s links to “Make $50k in 3 days”. So what happens is we miss it for a few days, then there are like 30 DMs in there, and before we know it, someone who was legitimately trying to get a hold of us has now had their message lost in the mix and we never see it.
All in all, we figured a fresh wipe clean of who we follow will help us to use Twitter better, that’s the real reason. We are most definitely still going to message back every @reply you send us! Don’t believe me…try it, fool!
