“The Sad Banana” Video Premiere
If you didn’t already know how much we love throwing together stupid little video clips, you haven’t been around very long at all. If you’ve been around at all lately, you’ll notice we’ve been on kind of this…banana kick. I guess you could call it! Reason being, we’ve shot a bunch of videos over the last couple tours and even some home shows with the “Sad Banana” premise. If you’re looking for reasoning…I can’t give you any. We don’t know why, we just thought it’d be funny.

Well now, the video is done and before we release it on Twitter for Fold Theater Thursday, we thought we’d give all of you dibs on seeing the video.

How Long Will it Take?
Wow, you’re getting bored fast here, huh?! How do you expect to sit through a webcast if you can’t even read this post?! We’re kicking this thing off at 930CST and will probably go for about 45 mins. So grab some popcorn, invite over some friends, turn off the cell phone and get ready for Fold TV!

Official “Neverender” Music Video Release

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Months and months of hardwork have finally come to the public eye. We JUST released the music video for our single “Neverender” off of our latest independent release “Dear Future, Come Get Me.” We had an absolutely amazing time filming the video and would not have been able to get any of this done without some amazing support from everybody.

Directed by Mike Venezia, and cinematography by Cody Osbourne, drive the creative direction of this Fold inspired idea. Shot at our alma mater in Villa Park, IL, two full days of shooting and months of post-production have led us to this final product today. We had an incredible staff the day of to help with production and thank you to everybody who showed up to be an extra. Special shout out to Tracy Metz, Jen Johnson and Principal Dan Krause for all of their help with facilities and services.

We’re really proud of this and hope you guys enjoy it as much as we did! If we missed thanking you here, you know that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate everything you did.

Can’t Stop Believin’

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

So, we got some complaints about the “Twitterin” video, and i just want to point out the VERY IMPORTANT disclaimer in case some people may have missed:

WARNING! SOME CONTENT MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. THIS VIDEO IS A MOCKERY OF THE RIDICULOUS NATURE OF CELL PHONE USE ASSOCIATED WITH TWITTER & FACEBOOK. THE CHARACTERS INVOLVED ARE PERSONIFYING HOW PEOPLE BROADCAST THEIR LIVES FOR THE WORLD TO SEE IN THE MOST ABSURD WAYS. IF YOU ARE ADDICTED TO TWITTER, PLEASE VISIT WWW.THEFOLDROCK.COM TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP!

That said, some people thought we went a little “blue”, or “off-color” with some of the humor, to say the least. First off, let me point out the TITLE of the song: “Can’t Stop Twitterin’” says it all. Listen to the chorus. This is not a video about sex, drugs, church, religion, etc. Anyone who doesn’t see that isn’t looking. We certainly aren’t saying that the things depicted in the video are where we’re at as a band, in fact if you get the message we’re actually showing how empty and shallow the situations in the video are.

As we were putting this together, we tried to bring to life the extreme examples of a culture that can’t stop a behavior at any cost. It’s a visual indictment of just how far we’ll go for the sake of appearance and social perception. We hope to encourage the viewer to ask: What are we giving up to look good? What importance are we missing out on in an effort to seem important? Unfortunately, people DO Tweet in church. Let’s not be naive. This video was created to put that behavior out there and on display to see how ridiculous it is. We DO apologize if any younger kids saw it, and got more than they bargained for…

Which brings me to my most important point, the kids! As a MAJOR goofball and a fan of comedy, it seemed without some WAY over-the-top jokes the video wouldn’t really work. It was NEVER our intention for kids to see this video, and if God forbid any precious young eyes have seen the images in our video and gotten the wrong message then we’d like to offer our deepest apologies right now. That is all.

Happy Spring Y’all!

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Not sure what the weather’s doin’ in you’re neck of the woods, but all is well here in the suburbs of IL. Grass is suddenly green, (although I’m not quite prepared to mow it just yet) and the bees are buzzin…

Welp, The Fold is buzzin in our own little way (hey! Great segue Dan!) These past few weeks have been a time of big plans and rebuilding. We can’t wait to tell you all about what’s up, but rest assured it’s gonna give you plenty to chew on for Spring/Summer, including more tours, videos and MUSIC! Get excited, we can barely sleep at night.
